Ladies Pavilion (Central Park) Wedding Guide

One of the most romantic places in NYC for an intimate wedding ceremony is Central Park.

There are many locations to choose from, but Ladies Pavilion is a favorite spot for couples who want an elegant and memorable wedding ceremony.

Surrounded by beautiful trees and gardens, with the skyline as the backdrop, this gazebo-style pavilion is perfect for exchanging your vows.

After officiating hundreds of wedding ceremonies and elopements, many of them in Central Park, I can tell you exactly why couples are in love with having their weddings at Ladies Pavilion.

What Couples Love About Ladies Pavilion

If you're looking for a unique and picturesque wedding location in the heart of NYC, Ladies Pavilion is perfect for you.
This wrought-iron pavilion on The Lake at Hernshead offers couples a rustic and romantic setting for exchanging vows. It's a perfect location for smaller weddings, as you can fit up to 10 people inside.

With its stone floor and ample roof, the Pavilion provides shelter from the sun or rain, making it a perfect spot to say "I do" year-round.

And if you're lucky enough to have your wedding during warmer months, the Pavilion's lakeside location makes for beautiful photos against Central Park's lush green landscape and the Manhattan skyline.

Here are some standout features that you can expect from a Central Park Ladies Pavilion wedding!

1) Romantic Location

The most notable feature is the gorgeous setting. The wrought-iron Pavilion is situated on the west side of Central Park, at Hernshead on The Lake. This means you have a fantastic view of the water and the skyline, as well as plenty of lush greenery and trees surrounding you.

Another romantic location in the park is Gapstow Bridge which has an iconic NYC view, especially during Fall and Winter.

2) Intimate Gazebo

Despite its small size, Ladies Pavilion can actually accommodate up to 10 guests comfortably. This makes it a great option for couples who want to keep their wedding ceremony small and intimate.

FYI: The largest Gazebo is at Cop Cot but that structure has a more natural rustic style if you compare it to Ladies Pavilion; thanks to the vines and leaves.

One of the best Roofs in The Park

The gazebo also has a large roof, which provides shade on hot summer days. And if it does happen to rain on your wedding day, the roof will keep you and your guests dry.

3) Affordable Wedding Venue

Ladies Pavilion is also one of the more affordable options for getting married in New York City. The permit fee for the Pavilion is $25, which is significantly less than what you would pay at even the smallest NYC wedding venue.

How to Get a Permit for Ladies Pavilion Weddings

If you plan to get married at Ladies Pavilion, you must apply for a Special Events Permit with the Manhattan Borough Office online at https://nyceventpermits.nyc.gov/parks/.

It takes 30 days to process your permit and there is a non-refundable $25 application fee.

Tips For Getting Married at Ladies Pavilion

1) Always get a permit because it gets busy

2) Arrive early to set up and decorate (and claim your spot)

3) Have a backup plan in case of bad weather

4) Take advantage of the nearby attractions for photos

5) Enjoy your special day

If you’re looking for a beautiful and affordable option for getting married in New York City, Ladies Pavilion should definitely be at the top of your list. With its stunning setting and intimate size, it’s the perfect place to exchange vows with your loved one

Ladies Pavilion Wedding Restrictions

  • No setup with tents, tables or chairs

  • No speakers for amplified sound

  • No vehicles (of course)

  • No alcohol

  • No flowers balloons or decorations (wink)
